Produce Storage Guide

Keep fruits, vegetables, and herbs fresher for longer.

Apples

4–6 weeks

Refrigerator crisper

Keep separate from delicate produce; apples release ethylene.

Bananas

2–7 days

Counter

Keep away from ethylene-sensitive produce; the peel may darken if refrigerated after ripening.

Parsley & cilantro

About 1–2 weeks

Refrigerator

Trim stems and refrigerate upright in water, loosely covered.

Basil

About 5–7 days

Counter

Keep stems in water away from direct sun; basil is sensitive to refrigerator temperatures.

Leafy greens

5–7 days

Refrigerator crisper

Wrap loosely with a dry paper towel.

Onions

1–2 months

Cool, dark pantry

Keep away from potatoes and allow airflow.

Tomatoes

2–5 days

Counter until ripe

Refrigerate only after fully ripe.

Storage life varies with ripeness, variety, handling, temperature and humidity. Check produce regularly and discard moldy or spoiled items.
